A good next move starts with what’s reachable, and ends with a little room to spare.
Read the pattern from the outside in.
Yarnation’s colored bobbins travel around a knitted picture and collect matching stitches. Start by looking at exposed colors around the edge. A color deep inside the artwork can be important later without being a useful first choice.
A bobbin’s number is a budget.
The number on a bobbin tracks how many matching stitches it can still collect. A bobbin that uses all its capacity disappears. One with capacity remaining returns to the rack, where it still takes up room. Matching the color alone is not enough; think about how much of that color is available.
Keep a return slot in mind.
Before sending another bobbin, count the unfinished ones. A move that clears only a few stitches can still be useful if it opens a new edge, but several incomplete colors can quickly crowd the rack. Favor choices that finish a bobbin or expose a color you already have waiting.
Look one row ahead.
The front bobbin in a queue determines what you can select now. Its next neighbor tells you what that move will unlock. When two colors are both reachable, compare what each choice exposes on the board and in the queue.
Follow a video in short sections.
- Check the level number and starting artwork.
- Compare the visible queue and free rack spaces.
- Watch the next selection, then pause and repeat it in your game.
- If the boards diverge, rewind to the last matching state instead of continuing blindly.
Take the pressure off with practice.
Our browser studio uses 60 original patterns to practice edge matching and rack planning. Waiting bobbins collect automatically when a matching edge opens. The studio has no timer or purchases, and its levels do not reproduce the mobile campaign.
